We have passed the 100 Darrbers milestone!

I will write more about this in the coming period. More statistics and reasons for reaching this number will also be covered.

The following video was recorded during the official launch of eMapia.com in Swalif Think Day. The presentation covered the main idea of eMapia and the differences between its features and the ones available in other marketplaces.

يعتبر موقع درب.كوم سوقاً لخدمات التوصيل, حيث يمكن لأي شخص ان يسجل ك”دربر” ليعلن عن نيته التوصيل في مناطق تناسبه. في نفس الوقت يستطيع اي شخص ان يرسل اغراض له عن طريق اي دربر يراه مناسباً او عن طريق مناقصة للحصول على افضل عرض. هذه المقابلة ,و التي تمت مع احد الدربرز, تبين تفاصيل عملية التوصيل و تجيب على العديد من الاسئلة حول الموقع و حول طبيعة عمل الدربرز بالاضافة الى مقارنة لحظية مع شركة من شركات التوصيل.

الطريقة التالية تشرح كيفية التسجيل ليقوم اي شخص بعملية التوصيل:

التسجيل كعضو عادي من خلال الرابط التالي

هذه العضوية ستسمح لك بإضافة اغراض او احتياجات اذا رغبت أحد ان يقوم بتوصيلها لك. و لكن في هذه الحال و حتى تقوم انت بعملية التوصيل يلزم اتخاذ خطوة اضافية بعد الانتهاء من عملية التسجيل الاولى:

إذهب الى ملفك الشخصي او ما يعرف بالYour Profile

و اضغط على الرابط الخاص ب

Become a Darrber  

كما هو موضح في الصورة

بعدها ستتمكن من اضافة بعض التفاصيل الشخصية عن نفسك من خلال About me

هنا تأكد من كتابة كل شي عن امكانياتك اضف صورتك او صورة سيارتك او غيرها, فالناس سيقرأون هذه الاضافة و من خلالها سيقررون هل يتعاملون معك ام لا, فالموقع مبني على الثقة و اذا كانت المعلومات المضافة هنا غير كافية فهي لن تبني مستوى ثقة مناسب يرقى لطموح الناس

بعدها اختر وسائل النقل التي ستسخدمها و ايضاً المناطق التي تستطيع تغطيتها في عمليات التوصيل. شاهد الصورة التالية لتتضح الامور اكثر:

اذا رغبت في اضافة ملف فيه تفاصيل اضافية عن نفسك يمكنك ذلك عن طريق upload docs

بعدها قم بالضبط على زر submit

و هنا نكون قل وصلنا لاتمام عملية وجودك كشخص قادر للتوصيل من ضمن النطاق الجغرافي الذي اخترته. كل ماعليك الان فعله هو الانتظار حتى تتضم اضافة طلبية ضمن نطاقك لتشارك في الbid

بداية, ستحتاج الى تسجيل العضوية من خلال الرابط التالي

بعد تسجيل الدخول يمكنك الضغط على كلمة

الموجودة على يسار صفحة ملفك الشخصي او بكل بساطة الضغط على الصورة التالية

من خلال 3 خطوات سهلة و بسيطة يمكنك اضافة شحنة الى الموقع عن طريق التالي

الخطوة الاولى

لنفترض انك تريد ان ترسل لعبة بلاي ستيشن الى صديقك. يجب ان تكتب معلومات عامة عن الشحنة مثل اسمه, وزنه, العدد, الحجم, و شرح بسيط عن ما تحتويه الشحنة بالاضافة الى صورة او مجموعة من الصور الخاصة بالشحنة. الصورة التالية تبيّن الخطوة الاولى بالتفصيل

اذا لم تكن لديك معلومات دقيقة عن الحجم و الوزن فلا تقلق, يمكنك كتابة ذلك في الشرح البسيط و ذكر انك لست متأكد من دقة الحجم و الوزن.

الخطوة الثانية

هنا يجب تحديد المكان الذي سيتم اخذ الشحنة منه و المكان الذي سيتم توصيل الشحنة اليه. و في مثالنا هذه لنفترض انك تريد ارسال البلاي ستيشن من الشارقة الى دبي كما في الصورة التالية

يجب ذكر العنوان باكثر التفاصيل الممكنة, كما يجب ان يتم ذكر تاريخ و توقيت اخذ الشحنة و تاريخ و توقيت توصيلها
Bid End Date and Time

هو تاريخ انتهاء المناقصة, اذا لم يتم اختيار اي عرض من الدربرز فسيتم اختفاء المناقصة بعد هذا التاريخ. و بطبيعة الحال يجب ان يكون هذا التاريخ قبل تاريخ اخذ الشحنة المذكور في الاعلى

Maximum Charges or Targeted Charges

هو السعر (بالدولار الامريكي) الذي تفضل ان تكون تكلفة الشحنة حولها. قد تجد اسعار اعلى او اقل من الدربر و يمكنك اختيار ما تشاء منها.

الخطوة الثالثة و الاخيرة

في هذه الخطوة يمكنك اضافة معلومات اخرى عن الشحنة مثل مسألة ارسال تفاصيل اخرى للدربر الذي سيفوز بالمناقصة,,الخ

في النهاية يمكنك اضافة المناقصة مباشرة في الموقع او تأجيل المسألة بوضعها كمسّودة يمكنك الرجوع اليها لاحقاً و تعديل ما تريد تعديله و اضافتها للموقع في وقت لاحق.

بعدها ستكون مناقصتك جاهزة تماماً, و سيكون شكلها بعد الانتهاء من كل ما ذكرناه سيكون كالتالي

We have launched eMapia.com yesterday at the “Swalif Think Day” event in the Knowledge Village - Dubai.

eMapia is a location based marketplace, where people can browse through the country they live in to find businesses/people who added items for sale. Using Google Maps, you can check what is available for sale in areas near you!

The main difference between eMapia and other marketplaces is the user experience.!In eMapia, you can search for products using the map based on the location. You can then search for people selling specific items within a geographical location you choose.

Another difference is that eMapia is not an auction based marketplace. People add items and their prices and wait for others to approach them by email, phone or private messages.

eMapia is a sister company with the same team behind Darrb.com. There will be a lot of integration between the two sites in the future to allow people delivering their sold items through Darrb.com.

The event was very informative and many key Internet players in the Arab region have attended.

Mr. Husni Khuffash, Manager of Google in the UAE, honored the event by giving some insight about Google’s plans for the Arab world.

In a previous article, i’ve written about ways of increasing the chances of getting more business as a Darrber. One of the ways was to focus on the profile and try making it as professional as possible.

Papa2ae is a new Darrber that registered today. He has an excellent profile that states every single thing a sender might want to know about the service of a Darrber!

I will copy a small caption of what he mentioned in his profile:

PRICE LIST (UPDATED ON 1ST AUGUST) :

Light items - 5kgs or less - same day (couple of hours) - 5 Dirhams

Medium items - 10kgs or less - same day (couple of hours) - 10 Dirhams

Heavy items - more then 10kgs - same day (couple of hours - 20 Dirhams

These prices are not always used, but this will show you faintly the price range and how cheap i will deliver the items. The price will also depend on what i move around as well.

He made it clear to senders that he would charge something around those numbers above, which are really competitive!

Such profiles help senders better decide which Darrber to use for delivering their items. They want to know more about the Darrbers, which i think the next step would be adding more pictures and personal stuff that would help them ease the decision of accepting the Darrbers to deliver their items.

We were fortunate to be covered by AlEmarat Alyoum newspaper in its First Page on the 23rd July 2008.

The coverage was about Darrb.com and the concept behind it, starting from decreasing unemployment rates to having a second income.

Upto this moment, more than 20 Darrbers registered in the website covering mostly areas all around the UAE!

We received a number of emails saying that people had difficulties finding the web address of Darrb.com. Unfortunately, newspapers don’t normally mention the site address in the coverage so it doesn’t become an advertisement. But Google made things easy:)

We’ve completed 6 months from launching and we are once again back with some Darrbers statistics.

The number of Darrbers reached 64 and UAE is at the top with 19 Darrbers followed by Saudi with 18 and Egypt with 11.

Those three countries have 75% of registered Darrbers. Most of the items available are located within those countries as well.

With the above numbers, we find that around 10 Darrbers register every month. We will focus more on increasing this number.

We are planning to make the process of contacting Darrbers easier in order to allow more people to use their services. More updates will come once they are available

Techcrunch.com is one of the well known blogs that focus on web 2.0 companies and their news. They review sites on a daily basis, and become busy as many websites come into the game.

Techcrunch decided to allow its visitors to review the sites instead! They’ve created Elevator Pitches to allow startups CEOs and owners to describe their website in a 1 minute video.

An article reviewing Darrb.com was added on Arabcrunch.com covering the features offered by Darrb and how Darrbers can benefit from delivering items on their way.

Arabcrunch is one of the early Arabian blogs that is dedicated to reviewing Arab startups and existing Internet & Mobile companies and what they offer to their customers.

The article touched on good points, especially the areas for improvment. One of the great points was the integration between Darrb and other marketplaces like eBay, Amazon and others. This will allow people to ask for delivery when they buy something online.

This is my dream! It would be a huge milestone if we could manage to link marketplaces with Darrb to ask for delivery.

Since the concept of Darrb is very new and in order to make that happen, we are focusing on making the process of adding items and connecting with Darrbers easier for people. This step should pave the road for integrating with other marketplaces.
